If you’ve ever been stung by a bee you know it’s a painful event and the irritation can last for a few days! For most of us, an irritation is as far as it goes. For others though, the situation can be much more serious. A bee sting could prove deadly and anaphylactic shock must be treated quickly. It’s a good idea to visit your doctor and have a series of tests performed to see if you are allergic to anything. If you know you are allergic to bee stings you should carry an epinephrine auto-injector (EpiPen) with you at all times. Even if you’re not allergic you should know how to use one in case the victim you’re hiking with is unable to.
