Pemberton Mudslide: 2 Hikers Rescued

PEMBERTON, B.C. — It was supposed to be an easy weekend hike in the mountains for Vancouver firefighters Mark Nitychoruk and Jay Pruniak.
But all that changed when a search-and-rescue chopper swooped in Friday to scoop them up after the second-largest slide in Canadian history took out a mountainside and part of Capricorn Glacier at Mount Meager, 150 kilometres north of Vancouver.

Semaphore Lakes is an easy and very short hike in the Pemberton Area. The round trip is 5 km (3.1 mi) for which you should allow 3 hours.
